Error When Upgrading W3 Total Cache 0.9.2.4

W3 Total Cache is great plugin in order to make your (Wordpress) blog loads faster. But last night I found upgrading to the latest version 0.9.2.4 was not as smooth as it used to be. I got the following error after upgrading the plugin from inside the admin panel :

Fatal error: Call to undefined method stdClass::set_prefix() in /home/username/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 287

The error caused this simple Wordpress blog inaccessible both from front-end and back-end.

Now it's really like throwing stone on my face since I haven't been logged-in to monitor my blog for more than a month, and the W3 Total Cache automatic upgrading messed my blog to go down. Last night, my plan to moderate some spam comments was totally changed to seeking how to solve this problem.

What I have done to overcome the problem

After reading forums and blog posts regarding this error, I got this site up and running again by doing the followings:

1. Log in to cpanel and temporarily rename the db.php file in wp-content folder (I renamed it to db0.php). Doing this made the blog run and allowed me to access the admin panel.
2. Log in to wp-admin and deactivate the W3 Total Cache plugin.
3. Back to cpanel. Edit the .htaccess file by deleting the .htaccess rules created by W3 Total Cache.
4. My next plan was to reinstall the previous version of W3 Total Cache (0.9.2.3) which was working properly on this site. So I downloaded the version 0.9.2.3 from Wordpress.org page.
5. Upload the downloaded plugin and activate it. At this point, the plugin will generate a new db.php file in wp-content folder and write again its rule in .htaccess file. Next to do is deleting the renamed db.php (db0.php in my case).
6. After doing all those stuffs above, my site is running back with W3 Total Cache installed in older version.

What to note

I'm not a code hacker. Not at all. What I did was just following what those real hackers told people to do. The forum I visited seems not resolved yet so my to-do list is possibly not the best way to solve the error caused by W3 Total Cache 0.9.2.4 upgrade.

But there's one thing I can advise, though.
If you're about to upgrade your W3TC plugin to version 0.9.2.4, it would be better if you wait until the new version released. Many people believe that there's a bug in W3 Total Cache version 0.9.2.4.
